The San Pablo Police Department announced that on Thursday, its swing shift officers recovered six stolen vehicles along with seven arrests.

According to police, one of the vehicles that was stolen opted not to pull over and lead police on a pursuit, however, it quickly broke down after driving over a curb. The driver then gave up, however, the passengers took off.

San Pablo Police were assisted by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and the Richmond Police Department who attempted to search for the suspects running through backyards. With the help of a drone equipped with a FLIR detection (heat source), a suspect was located. Soon, in a nearby area, the other suspect was arrested.

Police said inside the stolen vehicle were burglary tools which included a window punch used to bread windows, cloves, and stolen items. No one was injured in the incident. The six vehicles were returned to their owners.

According to San Pablo Police PIO, the three suspects who fled from police before being arrested were all juveniles. That vehicle was stolen out of the City of Berkeley.  All other vehicles were stolen out of several jurisdictions from Richmond to Albany. One vehicle was out of the State of Florida.

So far in the month of February, San Pablo Police have recovered at least 12 stolen vehicles.
