The Antioch Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred just before 8:00 am Sunday in the City of Antioch.

The incident occurred on W 2nd Street near A Street where nearly 20 casings were observed in the street, plus a firearm on the ground.   Police currently have A Street/2nd Street at W 6th to W 3rd blocked off while they investigate.

According to preliminary information provided by police on scene, the subject was in the middle committing a felony crime when police responded. No other details were released, however, police said what happened next resulted in officers opening fire. The suspect was wounded multiple times.

No details were provided about the male or his condition. Police also did not confirm if the suspect had a weapon, shot at police or threatened police. Police did say more than one officer opened fire.

Antioch acting Chief Joe Vigil, who was on scene, said police would release more information Sunday.

Back on Aug 27, a man was shot and killed in the 400 block of 2nd Street. Meanwhile, back in April 2021, the Antioch Police Department had an officer involved shooting in the same apartment complex after responding to a male having a mental health crisis–that subject was holding a knife and charged at police.

The Mayor setting up a press conference to blame the police in 3…2…1

Maybe criminals will realize that cops aren’t Fing around anymore.

Hoping APD can do this more often to deter crime. Unfortunately the Mayor and DA will have the officers investigated for civil rights violations 🙄
