The Richmond Police Department provided an overview of significant activity between February 10-16  in the City of Richmond. Officers responded to 1,558 calls for service during this period.

Calls For Service

Assault w/Deadly Weapon

  • 2/10 – Officers responded to the 1000 block of S. 47th St for reports of a domestic disturbance. Officers contacted the victim, who reported she was walking when her ex-boyfriend started following her in his vehicle. An argument ensued, and the suspect purposely struck the victim with his vehicle and fled the scene. The area was checked, and the suspect was not located. #1120
  • 2/13 – Officers responded to the 2900 block of Hilltop Mall Rd for reports of an assault with a deadly weapon. Officers located the juvenile victim, who reported that three juvenile suspects approached him while he was switching buses. One of the suspects produced a firearm and struck him in the head with it. The suspects then fled the area. The area was checked, but the suspects were not located. #1210
  • 2/14 – Officers responded to the 100 block of 5th St for reports of an auto vs. pedestrian collision. Officers located the victim, who reported that he located his wife inside a vehicle with another man. An argument ensued and the suspect purposely drove his vehicle into the victim. The suspect then fled. Officers were able to locate the suspect at his residence, and he was taken into custody without incident. #1244

 

Assault on Officer

  • 02/13/2023 – RPD K9 Officers responded to assist a local agency pursuing a suspect who had attempted to strike officers with his vehicle. The pursuit entered the City of San Francisco, where the suspect rammed an RPD Officer’s vehicle in an attempt to escape. The suspect ultimately crashed his vehicle and fled on foot, at which time he was taken into custody by SFPD. #1198

 

DUI

  • 2/10 – Officers responded to Cutting Blvd and Canal Blvd for reports of a driver slumping over the steering wheel. Officers located a vehicle that had struck a boulder in the landscaping on the side of the road. The driver displayed signs of being intoxicated. The driver could not complete roadside sobriety tests due to his level of intoxication and was taken into custody without incident. #1134

 

Evading, Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Stolen Vehicle

  • 2/13 – Officers on routine patrol attempted to stop a speeding vehicle in the area of Wall Ave and S. 38th St. The vehicle showed to be reported stolen. The driver drove the vehicle through a wooden fence before fleeing the vehicle on foot. Officers established a perimeter and ultimately located the suspect hiding in a trash can. The suspect gave up peacefully upon learning there was a police K9 present. A loaded handgun was found along the path the suspect fled. #121

 

Robbery – Armed

  • 2/10 – Officers responded to the 300 block of 4th St for reports of an attempted robbery. Officers located the victim, who is a UPS driver. The victim reported that he was stopped at a stop sign when the suspect approached his vehicle and opened his passenger door. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded that the driver give him all the packages in the vehicle. The suspect became distracted, allowing the victim to drive off. The area was checked, and the suspect was not located. #1141
  • 2/15 – Officers responded to the 12000 block of San Pablo Ave for reports of an armed robbery. Officers located the victim, who said the suspect entered the store, pointed a handgun at him, and demanded money. The clerk ultimately complied. The suspect then fled on foot. The area was searched, but the suspect was not located. #1268

Robbery

  • 2/11 – Officers responded to the 000 block of Bissell Ave for reports of a robbery. The victim reported that they had just left the store when a suspect approached them. The suspect struck both victims in the head with an unknown object. The suspect then stole the victim’s purses and shopping bags, fleeing on foot. Both victims sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The area was checked for the suspect, but they were not located.
  • 2/11 – Officers responded to the 900 block of 23rd St for reports of a robbery. The officers located the victim and determined the victim was in the parking lot of the business when the suspect approached him. The suspect told the victim he was going to rob him. The victim refused to give the suspect his property, and a fight ensued. During the fight, the suspect produced a firearm and struck the victim in the head with it. The suspect then fled the area in a vehicle. The victim was provided medical attention. The suspect was not located during an area check. # 1159
  • 2/16 – Officers responded to the 1200 block of San Pablo Ave for reports of a robbery. Officers contacted the clerk, who indicated that three suspects entered the business. One of the suspects simulated having a firearm, while two other suspects stole property from behind the counter. All three then fled the area. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects. #131

 

Sideshow

  • 2/12 – Officers responded to the area of Carlson Ave and Bayview Ave for reports of a sideshow. Officers responded and located 60 vehicles engaging in sideshow activities. Officers were able to disperse the crowd, and the vehicles left the area.

 

Stolen Vehicle

  • 2/15 – Officers on routine patrol located a stolen vehicle driving in the area of Monterey St and Imperial Ave. Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop, and the vehicle yielded. The driver was taken into custody without incident, and the vehicle was returned to the registered owner. #7515

 

Weapons Violation

  • 2/10 – Officers responded to a report of a traffic collision in the area of S. 28th St and Cutting Blvd. Officers arrived on the scene and determined that the driver of a vehicle had lost control, causing them to strike a parked car. Officers learned that the driver had fled from the vehicle and was hiding in a nearby yard. Officers checked the area and located the driver. A search of the crashed car resulted in a loaded firearm being found. The driver was arrested for illegally possessing the firearm and for hit and run. #1124
  • 2/13 – Officers responded to the 3400 block of Klose Way for reports of a found firearm. Staff reported that groups of juveniles were eating at the restaurant, and they fled without paying their food bill. In their haste to leave, one of the suspects left a backpack behind. The staff recovered the backpack and saw a firearm inside. While RPD was responding, the juveniles returned and retrieved the backpack. As officers arrived on the scene, they fled into a ravine. After a brief foot chase, all five juveniles were detained. K9 Officer Charles searched the area the juveniles fled to with his K9. During the search, the backpack and firearm were recovered. One juvenile was booked into juvenile hall, and the other four were released on a citation to their parent
